1860 The Religious War In 1860, religious violence in Chouf and Metn turned into war. Its echoes reached as far as Zahlé and Damascus. Chalhoub families living in regions touched by the war relocated to safer areas. This is why the Chalhoub family can be found in more than 80 villages and towns in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine.
