The first meeting took place on July 31st 1969, to discuss the possibility of forming the Union. There were present: Mr. Victor El-Khoury (Lebanon’s former ambassador to France and England) and Mr. Assaad Chuci el Khoury (Mayor of Bkassin), who are both a Chalhoub. Also present were, Mr. Karim Chalhoub (architect), Mr. Farjallah Selim Chalhoub, Mr. Kaysar Antoun Chalhoub, and myself. In this meeting, the first step was taken for the Union to become a reality.
After contacting various family members to outline our goals and actions, the first founding committee was formed as follows:
